The Unraveling

Have you ever watched a butterfly float through the air? They fly so effortlessly and with such grace. We paint them, we take pictures of them, and we marvel at their beauty. I find them to be one of the most fascinating creatures in all of creation; because though they are small, they teach us something crucial to life: change is painful but it leads to beautiful things when we give ourselves fully to the process.

In order for the butterfly to fly so effortlessly, it must first be a caterpillar, a creature that is slow and often times goes unseen. This forgettable bug gets wrapped up in a dark cocoon for some time. Not only that, but that caterpillar must turn to mush and become even uglier before it can get better.

We humans are kind of like that. There are seasons in our lives when we are hidden, sometimes undervalued, and put on the back burner. These seasons are not to be despised, nor are they wasted.

You're changing.

A new beginning is happening within you- one that is disrupting the order of old things. Without the darkness and pain of this season, the immense beauty of your purpose would never be realized.

The destruction is the reconstruction.

Maybe it is time to cut off the life support to the half-dead things in our lives so that something beautiful can ressurect, something that we never even could have possibly imagined. The world will stand in awe of what light shines from you, the light that could only have been made in the secret place and in the unraveling of you.

You were made to soar.
