The Tug on My Heart
I would be a millionaire if I had a dollar for every time somebody asked me, “What are you passionate about?”
That question always stumps me, because I am passionate about a lot of different topics, hobbies, and things. There are many avenues I could take in this life, and I could find myself passionate about them.
I was recently presented with a different question that left me thinking:
“What disturbs you?”
This question is not nearly as inviting or fun, but it is essential to our life.
What disturbs you?
For something to disrupt, it has to interfere and interrupt our current state.
What in this world keeps you up at night? What is the outside force interrupting the inertia state of your life?
Whatever it is for you, how can you be the solution?
We have a lot of people in this world who talk about the problems, just turn on the television for five minutes and you will see a mountain of issues that seem to endlessly pile. Let me take the weight off of you now and tell you that you cannot save the world. As much as I wish you and I could be Superman to everyone, that is not a reality, but you can be the answer to at least one problem in front of you. You can be a light to someone's darkness. You can bring the missing piece to someones brokenness, and aid in their journey to wholeness.
Maybe instead of chasing a trail of endless passions, maybe it is time we give ear to the tug that keeps pulling on our heartstrings, because it is often at the end of our own desires that we find the purpose for our lives.
